Abstract

Pulsed radiofrequency lesioning (pRF) of the suprascapular nerve (SSN) is an alternative treatment for repetitive SSN block. SSN pRF is typically conducted on the supraspinous fossa using an approach similar to that of conventional SSN block. The supraclavicular approach, which has been suggested for better visualization of the target nerve during SSN block, can be considered for pRF ablation of SSN, particularly when the nerve is not detected at the suprascapular fossa or more proximal and a superficial approach is needed. Herewith, we report a case in which we used ultrasound-guided SSN pRF on a patient complaining of chronic shoulder pain through a supraclavicular approach by tracing the omohyoid muscle as a landmark. The procedure provided significant pain relief for a considerable period of time without adverse procedure-related events.
